This will create more room to store things. Put things away as soon as you are done with them. That way, you will always be able to find things when you need them, and things will look neat and tidy. You should do this for every room in your home, this includes the kitchen and the bathrooms, too.
- Be Creative with Your Storage Space
An important part of knowing where everything is, includes having the proper storage space. Utilize your nooks and crannies in and around your home. Choose creative storage solutions. Utilize space underneath beds with storage bins, go vertical and use hooks or shelving, choose furnishings such as storage chests that double as seating or a table. The more creative you can be the easier it will be to find plenty of storage space and resolve your clutter issues.
- Store Similar Items Together
When you store similar items together you save space and you always know where everything is. Would you store your silverware with writing implements? Look around your home in a logical fashion, I am sure that you will find ways to store things that work well together.
- Do Not Keep Items You Are No Longer Using
When people move from one location they often realize how much “stuff” they have accumulated over the years. The solution to this dilemma is to purge. If you are not using it, if it does not fit, if it is old ticket stubs or simply things that you no longer need, have a yard sale or garage sale, give them away, throw them away, whatever you have to do but get rid of it. Do not keep things that you are no longer using. If they are sentimental, take photos and create a scrapbook or find a way to repurpose them.
- Pick Up Daily
Make picking up items putting them in their place a routine. Take 15 minutes each day and do a quick pick-up of things that are laying around. The more you do this, the less picking up you will need to do to prepare for your cleaning day. Imagine, your house cleaner taking half the time because you de-cluttered for just 15 minutes a day. It is amazing how much you can do in just a quick 15 – minute pick-up.
